Statement with regard to livestock feed sector

Statement of the problem

Value
Chain analysis is essential to understand the production system, marketing
channels and their relationships, the participation of different actors, and
the critical constraints that limit the growth of livestock feed sector and
consequently the competitiveness of farmers. Feed is one of the most important
element in livestock production system and hence to the growth of livestock
sector in the country as it accounts for around 65 per cent of the total cost
of production of an animal product. Scanty literature with regard to livestock
feed sector also makes it important to undertake this type of study. The sector
is dominated by unorganized sector. The study will help to identify the gaps
and inefficiencies along the value chain and recommend necessary interventions.

been made to mitigate the errors which arise in social science research in
general and in field survey in particular. Even though, there could be some
inaccuracies owing to the following:

1.
The respondents might not have shared the actual information
during data collection.
