HOW PATHETIC..! So this is where we are heading as a
nation. But it’s not a new thing we can
have many examples of sectarian violence in Pakistan.
of Pakistan clearly stated that:
It is the
responsibility of state to safeguard the life and liberty of an individual.
But Alas !
Government failed to provide this basic
human right to minorities. The Shia population in Pakistan is estimated as 20%
of the country’s total population. Attacks on Shia’s increased under the presidency of Zia-ul-Haq, with the
first major sectarian riots in Pakistan breaking out in 1983 in Karachi and
later spreading to Lahore and Balochistan. Sectarian violence is becoming a serious issue
with the passage of time.
According to a report by the Jinnah Institute
in May 2016:
Shia Muslims in
Pakistan have been victims of increasing levels of violence. 1,957 Shia’s were
killed and 2,516 injured in 872 acts of violence between Jan 2012 to Dec 2015
with Sindh and Karachi remaining the worst affected areas.
Islam teaches us peace and tranquility. We should develop
the element of tolerance for each other and take steps to combat sectarian
violence. We should not allow extremist or terrorist groups to spread
divergence in the society. Apart from this, government should take strict
action against these extremist groups and the distribution of pamphlets
PEACE FOR ALL!
