Villa Falett was a commission obtained by Charles
L’ Eplattenier, a teacher at the local school of art at La Chaux de Fonds and a
mentor for Le Corbusier. L’ Eplattenirer’s emphasis upon learning by doing and
his ability to obtain actual work for his inexperienced students brings us to
the first building of Le Corbusier, a house for Louis Fallet, a small
manufacturer of watches and a member of the board of the School of art. Even if
the house is imbued with Le Corbusier’s spatial sense, it is a testament to L’Eplattenier’s
search for an architecture appropriate to the region of the Joura Mountains
